Hello friends!
Today is the day for the Black & White Challenge at The Studio Sublime, hosted by Ms. Sally Russick. "The objective of the challenge was simple - to design a piece of jewelry using black and white color palette. Participants were also able to use base metal colors or crystals as accents."
Most of my pieces are pretty much colorful hence, joining the challenge was really a challenge. You know by now that I work with polymer clay and I love floral themes so, I made my first black and white cane. It was a task to cleanly combine black and white polymer clay but it turned out nice. What do you think?
I made a large focal pendant with 2 smaller flower beads on the side - I attached a tube bead behind the flowers and stringed them using flexible beading wire. Black wooden round, disc, beads, white square beads and a toggle clasp were added to complete the necklace.
The necklace measures 22 inches and drapes nicely on the neck.
Please pardon the poor photo quality. It was a challenge to take photos at night using white light bulbs. Well, that is another story.
Time to head over The Studio Sublime to see other black and white lovelies. Thanks for stopping by Cabby Craft ♥!

WOW! This is so awesome! I think you did an absolutely fabulous job - it's just stunning!! Beautiful work indeed.
ReplyDeleteYour polymer flowers turned out wonderful! Such a pretty necklace! I also found out the hard way that it is so difficult to take a good picture of black and white jewelry - and I have a photo booth!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty pendant Miss Michelle! I think this would look great on any tropical vacation. Makes me wish I was on a beach right now! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! Love the beads you made. That center one is really gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle! Nice work. I love how you found the black and white flower beads and came put the tube beads behind the side flowers to keep them from flipping. This necklace would go with so many differnt outfits!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I love PC canes, too, and I think you necklace is very original and dramatic. I agree, this colour is quite challenging to photograph!
ReplyDeleteOh, now, see? I look at that and think "I could *do* that!" then realize, no I can't! I haven't learned the basics, yet. How can I make something that looks like it took a lot of skill and patience to create? (especially knowing my *lack* of patience! HA!) I really like this. Beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Michelle, I love your black and white polymer clay flowers. Your necklace has a real Hawaiian flare.
