[Challenge] CF Originals Mica, Chalk Powder and Glitter

CF Originals Booty Call

Ms. Christi Friesen challenged the followers of CF Originals to a contest from 3/18 to 3/31/2014.  She wanted us to create works of art using chalk powder, glitter and/or mica powder.  This brooch/pendant was my entry that I submitted yesterday... oh yes, the day before the deadline.  I used a beautiful texture plate and added shades of red, blue and green mica powder.   The geometric lines, curves and wiring makes the piece visually interesting and sexy (in my opinion).

Can you believe that it's the last day of March?  More to projects come next month!

[Jewelry] "Circles" - A Polymer Clay Pendant / Brooch

"Circles"

It's been so cold recently with temperatures falling -16 in Chicago with wind chill warnings in effect.  We are feeling the cold in Houston too, with 29C Monday morning and even colder today.  So we've been dressing extra extra warmly, scarf and all.

I bought this lovely scarf at a shop as a gift for my sister-in-law.  The design inspired me to make a pendant / brooch from polymer clay that incorporated circles.  I used Premo polymer clay, both regular and translucent clay.  It was a fun and beautiful project to make.  Pardon the messy backing - I redid it but forgot to take another photo.  Ngek.

It can be worn as a pendant or as a brooch.  I think it's simple but elegant.

[7th Bead Soup Blog Party] For Rebecca

Welcome back!

As I have mentioned HERE, I am part of the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party hosted by Ms. Lori Anderson.  This year, I was paired with the talented Ms. Rebecca.  These were the ingredients that I sent her:

Ms. Lori required us to give a focal pendant and a clasp - the other beads and findings are just "add-ons."  I made Ms. Rebecca a round concave pendant made from Premo polymer clay. 

I am so excited to see what she cooked.

These were what she sent me.  Aren't they gorgeous?

[Jewelry] Candy sprinkles pendant

Instead of "What's in a name" I think the more appropriate title for this post is "What in these names?"

Bright colored Candy Sprinkles... lots of them!

Do you prefer a particular COLOR palette?  I love bright colors because it makes me really happy.  

I made these personalized pendants using resin and candy sprinkles.

This first one is for a birthday girl.

This one is for a special lady - it had a horizontal layout which turned out nice too.

  

These pendants came with a leather and /or ball chain necklace and a handmade card.

[HPCG Aug 2012] Faux Dichroic Pendants

Welcome back!

We recently had a demo at the guild (Houston Polymer Clay Guild) on faux dichroic effects by one the members, Laura.  I tried using Lisa Pavelka's foils and UV resin before but never got hooked on it.

The demo was very informative and interesting.  It opened ideas on how to make better use of the products.

These were the projects that I made a few days after the demo.  I still have to apply resin though it looks pretty good without it.  Oh, I just hope my resin application would be perfect and bubble free.
